It’s easy to list credentials on a website. It’s a different thing to keep them current. PMP, DASM, Security+, and SSCP all require ongoing continuing-education hours to maintain — they lapse if the work behind them stops.
That renewal requirement is part of why I keep them: not as a badge, but as a forcing function to stay current on how project delivery and systems security actually work today, not how they worked when I first tested.
When you’re evaluating who to bring in on a technology decision, ask when a credential was last renewed — not just whether someone has it.
